Art class is a playful and engaging exploration of the relationship between stillness and expression. We kick off the class by dropping into a brief meditation that allows us to take a moment to breath, get present and embodied so we can make a conscious choice about which parts of self are going to drive the creative experience we’re about to have. I’ll invite you to drop in deeper to the seat of your higher Self and you’ll have the opportunity to listen deeply to the parts within that want a voice: what most wants to be expressed through you in this moment?
You will then choose a creative process/path that best honors what wants to come through. You might be drawn to the rotating botanical still life that’s on site where you could practice “seeing and becoming” the earth material you are rendering – this is deep meditation within itself. Or perhaps you are drawn to the more intuitive, fluid process that I teach and model that allows you to take a break from left-brain functioning and wade into the active imagination waters of abstract expressionism where the possibilities are limitless, non-linear and often surprising. Or perhaps an idea emerged last week or in meditation that is neither of those things and you feel a clear call to explore the thread. There is truly no wrong path in Art Class. The goal is to be in an authentic dialogue with your inner creator and to see what happens from there.
This particular Art Class is meant for anyone that’s age ten or up. We welcome the solo journeyer and also encourage family and friend dynamics or any relational configuration that might benefit from some creative exploration and meaning making.
You are welcome to bring your own art materials or purchase them on site. You can come to this class once or as many times as you’d like to see a creative process through.
